I thought everyone knew about this but I guess they don't so I want to make sure you know since it's so ridiculous. Rachael Ray (who I do hate, a lot, incidentally) did these Dunkin' Donuts TV spots and wore a paisley scarf that kinda sorta looks like a keffiyeh. Right wing bloggers did what they do best- they FREAKED OUT.



Fox News (Fair and Balanced!) commentator Michelle Malkin wanted to boycott Dunkin' and described keffiyehs as "the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad" and said "popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant and not-so-ignorant fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons.’’

Oh really? Kind of sounds to me like Fox News (Fair and Balanced!) just called Palestinian men + Rachael Ray + fashion designers all jihadist terrorists. Um, fear-mongering much? What the hell? It's just a paisley scarf. I mean Rachael Ray has hundreds, maybe thousands, of annoying and grating qualities we could focus on. And sure, she terrorizes me with her complete monopoly over FoodTV programming and her inability to say anything in a non-irritating voice. But I don't envision her making an EVOO-powered bomb and strapping it to her chirpy little self anytime soon.
