Wolong Panda Reserve Destroyed in China Quake/Aftershocks

A couple weeks ago I wrote a post about my visit to the world's largest panda sanctuary in Wolong, China. It's located in Sichuan province which is of course where the massive earthquake and aftershocks are centered. I just read on TreeHugger that the panda preserve is too damaged and has to relocate. This is a sad day for our panda pals and one more strike against them in their already fragile state.

If you want to help: you can follow the progress and donate to the Wolong sanctuary at Pandas International. Since it's a World Heritage site, the Friends of World Heritage are pitching in to help, so you can learn more and donate there as well. To assist the people of Sichuan you can visit the Red Cross of China for updates, information, and links. I volunteered with the Red Cross in New York after 9/11 and my experience was proof enough to show me that the Red Cross utilizes donor funds and volunteers in the smartest and most efficient manner possible following a disaster, so that's where I'm donating.
