Amen To This Post

The uber-erudite BLDGBLOG has a neat post today about this conceptual "stacked cathedrals" architecture project.

There is also a crazy comment on the site which I like a lot because it's very, um, intense. I can't link directly to the comment but it's the first one on the post, by "Steve." I can't post it because it's too weird.

And while we're on the subject of churches, my friend Garrick, who kind of knows basically everything about design and architecture and cool things to do and cool places to go, could not BELIEVE I had never been to the Crystal Cathedral in Orange County, CA. It is a ginormous megachurch (ever heard of the Hour of Power?) that is the largest glass building in the world. The best part? Giant sliding glass doors open up behind the pulpit so people can watch the services from their cars- like a drive-in movie. In fact, the Rev. got his start preaching in a drive-in theater and wanted to maintain that connection with his flock. And don't worry about uncomfortable pew seating, apparently they have comfy theater-style seats. It's only a couple of miles from Disneyland, so you can give the kids a multi-faceted vacation experience.

Thanks Garrick!
