Customer Service Not So Great At Best Buy These Days

Consumerist is reporting an almost too-crazy-to-be-true story with the title "Best Buy Sells You A Box Of Bathroom Tiles Instead Of Hard Drive, Won't Refund." The story is that a guy bought a hard drive at Best Buy which was actually just a box full of tiles wrapped in newspaper, and they wouldn't give him a refund- they told him to take it up with the manufacturer. Yikes!

You can see more pics and the original letter from this poor guy's hideous customer service experience right here. The fact that things like this happen all the time is probably why people are so pleasantly surprised with the awesome MailboxTees customer service. I think people tend to expect the worst, and when someone is actually nice and helpful with their transaction they almost can't believe they didn't have to fight harder to get what they want, since it's becoming more and more common for retailers to treat customers really poorly. I can't imagine being so mean to the people without whom you would not be in business, but I guess that's just me...
