US Army Going Crazy, Making Humvees Out Of Foam

The US Army is testing humvees made out of balsa wood, fiberglass, and foam, held together with resin. Yes I said foam. They claim that since the humvees will be lighter, they can put extra armor on it. Huh?

Is it just me or does putting a bunch of armor on a giant foam humvee seem a little myopic? I've heard those IEDs can get so hot they melt your t-shirt to your body. And yet, holding together the entire humvee with resin is the plan here. This thing is going to fall apart faster than a recalled Chinese-made Thomas the Train toy. And balsa wood? I'm pretty sure that's the stuff you make toy airplanes out of. TOY airplanes.

Hey soldiers, if I were you I would double or triple up on my prayer time at this point, because all the armor in the world can't protect you when your humvee snaps like a twig and then melts into a sticky puddle. I mean, if you were feeling sorry for yourself for being at war before, go ahead and throw yourself a few more pity parties because your big strong metal humvee is about to be traded for a big foamy hot tub with wheels. You would probably be safer driving a giant naked Jesus statue through the streets of Baghdad.
